Interested in northern Nevada

I would like to get a Panther Cham, but I would prefer to get everything setup beforehand. Being in northern Nevada, I assumed I would need a glass terrarium to keep the humidity where it needs to be. Would I be able to keep a Cham healthy in a cage? The temperature isn't an issue. :D

hey there, very cool in getting the ball rolling on chameleon husbandry. it makes you that much closer to actually getting one :)

Honestly, Im familiar with Nevada, I was born in vegas, but I really don't think it makes a huge difference if you have a mister.

I currently live in so cal where it gets pretty dry as im located more in the desert area and inside my house is always kept pretty cool. with my mister going I am able to maintain pretty decent humidity levels.

Another cool think about screen cages is if your really having a bit of trouble with humidity you can cover a side of your cage with a piece of shower plastic that helps increase humidity. in worse case, you can put up to 2 or 3 pieces of plastic if your having a lot of trouble. As with a viv, you really don't have that option to take away if your humidity levels are to high.

This is all just my opinion. I am NOT experienced in chameleon VIV care. There are experienced chameleon owners who have used VIV's and had great success with them

hope this helps and good luck :)

Hearing that I can have a screen makes me quite happy! Half the price, and bigger! I definitely plan on having the complete setup before getting the Cham. That way I can do more research!
