Insect nutrition

My local pet store is now offering hornworms as well as superworms and crickets. Was wondering what the nutritional value of hornworms and super worms are compared to crickets? Thanks!

crickets are better as a staple feeder when gutloaded, superworms as a treat...
I dont know about hornworms but if they are anything like silkworms they are very nutritious, i think its mainly the price of em that makes em more like a treat.

i usually buy using Alfalfa and arugula, then add what we have available; banana, apple, orange, carrot.
I also have repashy superload that I use.

There is a list in the resources section of recommended gutloads.

Back to this thread. My parents are worried about roaches escaping and creating a colony in the house. Would there be any argument to convince them they will be ok? Can they climb out of a cup (cup feeding them)?

Dubias need warm temp before they will mate, which is above 80 degrees {"Temperatures of at least 85F are required to breed Dubia roaches successfully"] They need water, food and humidity to thrive/grow. An ordinary home usually does not meet their needs. This info can readily be found on the internet:

Also, they can not crawl up slick sides. So they won't escape from a cup. Just have a slick sided tub to keep them in and they're good.
