Hi all i need a bit of advice, i have a layer of jungle bedding soil mixture made for chameleons on the floor about 4 inches and only because water was puddling and it was drowning the food. Recently i have noticed tiny tiny white creatures in the soil and over 1 week has mutiplied rediculously i just wondered if this wud b natural in the havitat or i should remove completely and lay with newspaper as the food is big enough to walk over puddles now. The water will eventually drain to a corner with holes in into a bucket. Would appreciate any advice that can be given. Thanks

These are likely mites. Would get all substrate out ASAP and deep clean cage. Check your cham closely and hope he/she's not infested also. If so will need treated. Do not wait to do this as mites spread like a virus especially in a moist environment.

If the water is creating puddles, I would look into drainage so that the water doesn't just sit there like that. Definitely get rid of the substrate and clean the whole thing really well. Mites spread really fast when the conditions are right, and they are a pain in the butt to get rid of.
