i was doin research on breeding, and writing down little notes to study... and i read this... "Veiled: 1.5 part vermiculite to 1.0 part water at 80-85 degrees during the day and a drop to 74 degrees at night should hatch them out in 150 to 190 days." Is this right?

And still if anyone knows some sites for me to study to learn about Incubators and other breeding stuff for veileds, Please tell me :)

Thanks

Actually it isn't a perfect science...Veiled eggs are very hardy. Most people just put them in a Tupperware show box and either burp it everyday (burping-taking the lid off to check the eggs) or drilling a 1/8 inch hole in the top or side. Incubate them around 78 and you will be fine, no need for nigh time drops. I wouldn't buy an incubator for Veiled eggs being that they are so hardy.

When you say put them in a tupperware container do you mean just the eggs... no water, nothing?

Or what would you put in it? :)

Thanks for your help

vermiculite...mixed with a little water...you should not be able to squeeze but maybe one drop of water out of a handfull of the mixture

I use shoe box sized containers. I poke two very small holes in the lid. I fill the container about half full of slightly moist vermiculite and make dents in it in rows about 1 inch apart in all directions. I lay the eggs in the dents....put the lid on and put the container where I want to incubate the eggs. To test the moisture level of the vermiculite, take a fist full of it and squeeze it...if no more than a drop of water comes out then it should be okay. Beads of moisture will form on the sides and lid of the container...that's fine.

I only fill the containers half full so there is "head room" for the babies when they hatch.
