What's the difference between this two light bulbs?
Are both appropriate for a panther chameleon?
What kind of basking bulb do you use for hatchlings?
Thanks!

It's not a concern, I'm looking for recommendations

A floodlight can be an incandescent bulb. They can also be Halogen or florescent. Halogen or incandescent are both suitable for your Panther. The real question is what wattage to get? Depending on how far your bulb will be from his/her basking spot it will differ. Most recommended starting at 50w or 60w and measuring with a temp gun. You may need to bring him/her closer to the light or get a higher wattage bulb. Hope this helps.

Can you please show me a pic of a specific incandescent bulb that works fine for panthers?
It doesn’t need to be anything specific. Any basking bulb will work. For panthers they at least have to be 75-100w, 20-25cm above the enclosure roof. The basking spot should be 90F. It needs to be on 10-12 hrs in the day then off for 10-12 at night. They need a temp drop. If your house goes below 55 at night you’ll need a night time bulb

I’ve been seeing a lot of people recommending temp guns lately. Temp guns definitely have their place in Cham keeping but they only measure surface temperatures and can not accurately measure the ambient temperatures immediately surrounding and within the basking spot.

Another thing that I think leads to all of these burns we see, people measure the temperature by what it is on the branch. Example, branch might read on the gun 90, but then the cham is a few inches closer when basking. So temperatures there could easily be breaking 100. I like to find the low 80s or so with my temp gun has worked well for me.

I temp gun my cham for true reading

I have a wired thermometer at the basking branch plus two unwired in different locations. I also use a temp gun. As far as bulbs. I have tried both. I prefer these ones. I really like the fukers dimmable dome light too because then you can dial back or up the heat output from the bulb without having to buy multiple wattage's. I would get the 8.5 inch one though because it is rated for up to 150 watts. The smaller dome they sell is only rated up to 75 watts so you can't use a higher watt bulb in it if you need to up your heat to 90 degrees. Here is a pic of the one I finally found and have preferred.
