So i have a t8 6% arcadia uv bulb for my chameleon, i was advised by soo many people to put it inside viv which i did and now chameleon wants to climb on it and people have advised to take it out as it will damage his eyes any ideas? I need to fix something by tonight as i cant be here all day to monitor him tomorrow. Thanks

I would never have a bulb inside the enclosure. There's a high risk of them burning themselves or otherwise.

I can't say whether or not that is true--I honestly don't know. I would say it depends on the type of mesh, maybe.

Both of my chams seem to be doing just fine with their UV and it's going through silver aluminum mesh

I agree burns are never a risk id want to take so put it on the outside. all mesh will filter uvb some will filter out as much as 50%. What does get through normally is enough uvb for the chameleon. some outside time to get natural uv would e a bonus. but what is blocked shouldnt have you too worried. I believe the arcadia's put out more or are stronger than other brands so you made the right decision going with that over a 5.0. the next best thing you could do is get a t5HO other than that dont think you have much to worry about. an expensive investment but to knock out any doubts a uv meter will give you all the answers you need

Okay thank you, will move it outside tomorrow but will use his compact uv bulb for the mean time to prevent burns and will get him outside as much as possible!
