I got a veiled on valentines day, shes about 4 months old. i got an umbrella plant and she seems to love it and nibbles on it alot. but its almost about dead and cant really hold her up anymore. So my question is are fake plants ok? whats another good plant to use? or even suggestions on how to get mine back to life would be helpful. she doesnt have many places to hide anymore :(

i just want to make the cage as comfy as possible!
thanks!

Pothos seem to be pretty hardy! I had one sitting at the bottom of my cage for the longest time without really any light hitting it (in a 24x24x48 cage) and its still alive and well! My umbrella used to be full of leaves all the way up the stalk, now theres only leaves toward the top.

I have a pothos in my new cage. It's a smaller pot that is light enough to hang at the top with long vines flowing down for my veiled to climb down and around in. :D

I like the thought of live plants over fake. They have a few good positive values like humidity and also your veiled can eat them :)

Usually when they eat tons of plants like that -- It means you aren't giving them enough water (or they just really love plants).

Honestly, try misting her more often, make sure you give her lots of water. Then try to revive your plants or buy new ones.

Live plants are much more beneficial (and in my opinion, prettier) than fake ones. For example, they hold humidity better, grow and provide more natural looking branches, and aren't as... fake... as fake plants.

Imagine if you went outside and all your plants were fake. That would look pretty drab :) Just trying to put it into perspective because I don't understand why people will just "give up" when their plants begin to die, or switch to fake plants because they're easier.

It's very simple, just take care of your plants and cham, try different plants that are right for you (off the safe FLCHAMS list) and you and your cham will be happy.

Here is more information.

Fake plants are ok, but we suggest you have at least one live plant. Good, easy plants to take care of are:

Ficus benjamina, pothos, schefflera (keep in mind that these prefer good lighting and lots of water), hibiscus (you'll probably need a grow light for these), and other plants.

Reviving the plant is easy. Take it out of your enclosure and put it in a slightly shaded area that is not sunny all day. Your plant will be in shock if you put it in full sun. It will need time to get used to the new environment, so water it lightly every day and cut off any completely dead parts of the plant. Hopefully it will make a recovery.

so my plant took a turn for the bad today and is completely dead, i am going to try and revive it i just need to have something in the mean time. i mist her a lot but i will up it and mist her some more. i mainly wanted fake plants just so it was thicker in the cage and she had more hiding places with the live one i have now but since it just pooped on me im going to switch to another plant and try to get this one back up. :(

i wouldnt totally switch to fake i guess i just worded it wrong, oops
thanks to both of you, ill look into the pothos i think i might like that one more! :)
