I replied to Texas Panther Mans PM but thought I would share if anyone else is interested. If both parties have their permits CITES documents can take from 2 weeks to quite a few months or more to obtain from authorities. It really depends on how busy they are.
For species such as Bradypodion, parsonii, F. minor etc. that have been banned from export, FWS may want to see additional documents proving the parental stock were obtained legally and not just "go with it" because the exporter obtained what appear to be legal documents. Some FWS inspectors may just let it slide with "legally" obtained CITES documents. However, my inspector researches deeply where the animals are coming from and whether they or the parental stock has been legally obtained. This is not full proof obviously but in the case of my inspector wanting to get to the bottom of every little bit is very respectable and honorable, not to mention it is their job.
