I'm Worried!

I hope I'm just worrying unneccessarily. My 6-7 month old Nosy Faly Panther girlie isn't eating much. Over the past couple of weeks she has changed colour dramatically and isn't as interested in her food over the last few days. I know that they don't eat as much as they get older but is this normal? Her poops are smaller too but still healthy looking and she has gained weight. She was a right piggy and she would eat any food from my hand but she's not as bothered now although she does eat some. She is very active.

I dont keep females, so hopefully one of the elders will help you, but from reading my first thought that came to mind is...gravid???
color change, change in eating habits.

Since your sig says you have eggs, i know i dont have to find egg laying bin info!

Oh the eggs are from my Crested Geckos lol but I have given Mia a laying bin anyway. Pics coming soon.

Here she was very recently. A more turquoise colour.

I'd say gravid. If she starts scratching around that laying bin, you will want to give her some privacy.

She wants to come to me all the time and seems a bit restless although she is happy in my hand. If I ignore her she will climb the cage door or hang from the roof although if I spy on her without her seeing me she shows none of this behaviour. Should I be doing anything for her and what about her feeding?

Also is it normal for her to have a double chin lol? She looks a bit porky with it.

Oh, I didn't even notice that neck...that is odd. You might want to consider a vet visit if it's like that all the time.

I'd feed her if she eats but not worry overly if she isn't. I would wrap towels or sheets around the cage so she doesn't see you. You can peek through a little gap to check her progress. Did you read up on laying bins?

She may well be working on her first infertile clutch. When Amy is receptive she drives me nuts scratching at her door to be let out every time she sees me! I would think her behaviour is to do with her becoming sexually mature - Amy is the greediest girl ever but when she is receptive she is so hell bent on getting out she walks straight over any food on my hand! However, I have no experience with female Panthers, but Mia is such a beautiful girl - she has coloured up so nicely! She is gorgeous!

I forgot to ass that the 'neck thing could well be gular edema - usually seen when females are gravid - both mine had it when gravid and it disappears once they've laid. It's a bit like water retention oedema in pregnant women.

She may well be working on her first infertile clutch. When Amy is receptive she drives me nuts scratching at her door to be let out every time she sees me! I would think her behaviour is to do with her becoming sexually mature - Amy is the greediest girl ever but when she is receptive she is so hell bent on getting out she walks straight over any food on my hand! However, I have no experience with female Panthers, but Mia is such a beautiful girl - she has coloured up so nicely! She is gorgeous!

Thanks Tiff. And now the stress begins. I didn't really want to say but she's driving me nuts too lol. I absolutely adore her but I can't have her in my hand all the time .... as much as I love her. She wouldn't even keep still in the window on her plant as she wanted to be in the other plant which isn't suitable as it's too flimsy (see the pic above). But when I went close she didn't want to be in the plant she wanted me lol. Every time I open the door she legs it to the top and onto the door.

I have a female that gets edema every time shes going to lay, it goes away after she is done.

How long can I expect Mia to stay like this? She is still eating very little although she is doing normal looking small poops, her neck is still puffy and she is still very active and wanting to come out of the cage all the time. I have only seen her walking on her lay box once a few days ago but otherwise shows no interest in it. She is still very pink and orange.

And I'm still worried.
