I'm not sure if my eggs are about to hatch or not...

Tonight I went to check on my eggs. This is my first clutch and I'm really not sure how to tell if they will begin to hatch soon. My veiled chameleon laid her eggs on April 11th so that puts them at about 7.5 months. I haven't noticed any sweating but I touched a few of them and a couple felt "soft". I'm not really sure soft is the right word but it had lost the firmness that it had before. I don't think they are too dry, I can see little water drops on the plastic containers, in the substrate.

I'm not experienced in that field, but I think you should wait until they start sweating, and not touch until they hatch.

They will start to window about a week or three before they hatch. Windowing means the eggs thins out in spots soo much that its like a window in the egg

You can try to 'candle' the eggs.

Take a small pen light that is bright. LED ones work good but make sure its small.

leave the egg in the container. Shine the light on top of the egg in a darken room. You can press the light gently on he egg so it dosn't sine too much out the side, but be gentle You want the light to illuminate the egg.

Depending on the stage of development you may see veins forming. The closer to hatch day you are the egg will look solid on the bottom but hollow on the top. If the egg looks denser on the bottom but not really solid, you still have a month or so before they hatch. When they are solid on the bottom it won't be long at all.
