I'm having a water crisis.

Well, no my chameleon is. He absolutely hates water. He is actually going through dehydration right now because of his hate for water.

Does anyone have tips on watering? I mean he REALLY hates it. He hates misting, he hates his dripper, I've tried ice, cups of water dripping down through the leaves...

He doesn't like it touching him. The only way I can get him to drink is if I use a straw and a cup of water (Or hold him up to the dripper tube so that it doesn't get on him). If I didn't work, that would be totally fine. I just don't really have the time for it though.

Are there other methods I haven't tried? I know I have read that chameleons really only like moving water but, would a shallow bowl be a bad idea??

What feeders do you use? I believe silkworms are hydrating because of the amount of fluid in them. He might like them.

It honestly sounds like almost every chameleon who hates misters lol I recommend heating up the water in the mister and then spritzing him with it, it is the same concept for humans. Would you like to be sprayed with cold water? :D just my thoughts on it, your water may be to cold and especially with the ice cube thing. Many members really don't recommend doing that just because of the temperature of the drops. Let me know if it helps! Do not heat it up to much but a little warmer than luke warm. I would also do it for your dripper.

This sounds crazy but...

The only time I really see my cham drink is from cups. I can hand-water him (LOL). Try holding up a little cup with just about a 1/4 inch of lukewarm water. It may not work, but it's worth a shot. What Isa said should improve things a lot, too.

Silk worms are almost as big as he is! I did not know this until last night when I went to buy some. He is only about 9 months old hahaha.

I had a problem with Rango as well running every time the MistKing came on...and don't EVER spray him direct from the misting bottle.

I then got an outside enclusure for the outside deck. I bought a Habba System and then noticed that the water outside was a warm 90 degree temp.

I swear if Rango had a bar of soap, he's take showers under this nice warm water! He will NOT get out from under the mist...

I then bought a small reptile warming pad and put it on top of my 3 gallon rubbermaid reservoir inside under my entertainment center. Now the MistKing water temps are in the 80's and he's very much OK with the mistings now.

I guess HE taught ME a lesson! I don't like cold showers either!

I also keep the misting bottle in our Florida Room where we don't use our AC normally. Now that the misting water is warm also, Rango wlii let me spray water in his mouth from the bottle.
