hey im getting really stressed with an assignment im doing on chameleon behavior, i have a veiled chameleon and i watch him but im supposed to describe the natural behaviors they do through the day.
Can anyone list the simple behaviors they do? for example basking, walking eating ect, i have to define them simply not get comlex as an ethogram has to be made of them.
But im getting confused about how to define the behavior, like it is basking when there on vine with there head and body on the vine or is it resting?
if anyone could list them or help me list them i would really appreciate the help.
thankyou

Basking= aiming side of body towards light to get warm.

Patrol= making full trip around living space (tree/room/cage) looking for encroaching chameleons.

Drinking= Having water fall on face either with mist or drip.

Territory dispute= cham gets as flat as possible with the most amount of skin contrast to fend off other chams in a non violent fashion.

Sleeping branch=Outer most branch of tree/shrub/cage that the cham sleeps on each night.

Shedding/rubbing= removing of excess dried skin by rubbing on plants.

Seminal plugs marking= Male marking territory by dropping seminal plugs around tree/bush/cage.

Being a snot= pooping on purpose in places that are hard to clean.
Being a butt= Not wanting to be held when showing friends how tame he is.
Being a pain= not eating the $1 each feeder you got him.

With my setups I have a UVB basking area and a Heat basking area. It gives them an opportunity of which they prefer at a given time.

Especially with my Carpet Chams throughout the day, they will go from UVB to heat around in a circle. Typically not always, when a chameleon wakes up, they will head up to a heat basking lamp to warm up, and turn into darker color.

Not exactly sure what your assignment is exactly but hopefully other forum members on here can help

Thankyou this is the type of thing i meant, if anyone else has contributions i would appreciate another list to compare.

i would add to the basking to thermoregulate. move to heat when cold and when hot move away from heat source
drinking, have water fall on a surface usually leaves they lap the water off of
sleeping branch they also sleep under more foliage to feel more safe as predators have harder time finding
