Ideas for insulation/heating a shelf

I have 2 large shelves, I wanted to cover them in something and keep a space heater at the bottom. This will be for my roaches and any insects that need heating. I was thinking of some sort of insulated blankets, but would like any ideas. I'm not really experienced with using any type of insulated material, figured I'd ask some of you here.

I would just use some rigid insulation.

I agree with @Virgil1972! We use "blue board" ( that is what we call it)for all of our insulation needs, and we have a lot of places that need insulating living in a old farmhouse in Maine, the winters are brutal haha Honestly though blue board comes in different thickness and holds up very well

I know home depot sells it and I would guess lowes sells it as well.

Yup, blue board would work great, that's what I'm insulating my bug room with.
