Ideal cage w/drainage

I know this topic comes up and there is a lot of discussion regarding cages. I have searched and read many topics. I wanted to know if there is a pre made cage big enough for an adult male Panther that already has the drainage issue taken care of? A cage with a drain/drip pan already built in? Something clean looking. I have seen some beautiful custom made cages, but none for sale. Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks,

Dell

Hi Dell,

Chad and I are working on making custom molded drip trays that will fit the common screen cage sizes on the market. Due to a problem with the CNC machine at the guy's shop, we should have more info sometime next week.

As far as I know, if you want drainage in a cage, you have to find a way to do it yourself.

Maybe one day cages will come with drainage already pre-built with the cage.

Keep us posted on that! I'd be interested to see how you guys designed them. I might be on the market if they would make my cage easier to deal with! :)

That is the idea! Lord willing we will have some in hand in the next week or so. After that we will send a few out to forum friends to do some crash testing.

Thanks for the replies, I will keep my eyes open for that tray. I saw that post and the buzz on that, I just wasnt sure where you guys were on that. Thanks for the update.

Along with my chams I also have 2 dogs... well, rescued a new one 1 week ago. I noticed right away that the new one really liked to be in small spaces and realized that he has been in a crate since day one and felt out of place without having a place to escape to.

Why do I mention this? Because when I went to buy a crate I decided on a metal framed one (not a plastic travel kind). What did I see in the bottom of this crate? You got it, a perfectly formed bottom for a cham's cage! They would also be a BUNCH of different sizes because crates come in different sizes!

Now I just have to figure out how to buy the bottom by itself.... too expensive to buy the crate just for the plastic bottom!

Ok, after a little bit of web surfing I found this web site: Dog Crate Trays. Pay attention to the L x W (the H is the H of the cage and that is irrelevent in this case).

Those trays are only 4.99 plus shipping. They are designed to be walked on by dogs, so it is really hard plastic.

Cheap and durable. Win-win?

I can make cages like that.. I build the blue beast style cages out of aluminum screen mesh... opening and locking doors..

I give people the option of silver or black frame and screen, pvc bottom or Tupperware bottom for planting, plexi doors, plexi back,I can also make them with slide out drainage pans.. I must say though custom gages are a bit more money.. it all depends on what you exactly want.. I am a cabinet maker, carpenter, with 15 years exp.. you think it up I can make it.. or I can design you one on your own.. but I dont really make custom misting systems.. that would be your project..

there is a vendor that is at the westchester reptile shows that custom makes the typical aluminum cages with rubbermade pans for drainage, i got his card and he is very reasonable, he will make cages any size typically a 24 wide x 18 deep x 48 tall with a pan is 90 dollars plus, if anyone is interested i can post his name and number, i think i have his card. i am only passing info, i make my own custom cages from wood shower stall drains and pvc plumbing pipes.

If your cage has screen on the bottom, why not just use some blocks, raise it up, and put a tub underneath to catch the water?

I built mine with legs for this purpose.
