ID on this plant?

I normally hate asking for an ID but I have some of these out in the front of the house and was just curious what they are.
I am giving the cuttings and a friend was curious to know what kind of plant they are.
These normally pop out of the ground after a good rain or two so I may have more if anyone is interested.

agave, its what they use to make tequila.

That's what I'd thought but it almost doesn't look like it. Ah well.

its an Agave, but not the tequila one. I'm not sure which species, but I'll do some research and see if I can narrow it down for you.

looks like Agave palmeri.
