I took the plunge-Meet Eja

This is very unintentional, irresponsible, and irresistible trigger. I bought one Brookesia therezieni from LLL Reptile. I went to make room. Spend more money. 😵‍💫

Meet Eja. My lone female. I am on high surveillance with this one. Wiseman kept me with ease for sometime. Now this lady is going to keep me on edge. I’ll have to resort to the Brookesia group page over on facebook to deal with any unknown potential concerns.

Congrats! I was just day dreaming about getting some of these little beauties the other day. 🥰 Not to rain on your parade, but she does look quite thin and dehydrated. With your excellent care though, she should bounce back from the effects of shipping and go on to thrive. You’ve become such a fantastic keeper! 💗 I am so excited for you! 🥳🤗
I do hope she will bounce back. Not going to lie-I wish I bought two. For now I think I made a better choice to just dab my feet.
I’m keeping a close eye. She was doing okay. Acts like a dead leaf that slowly moves.

She being wild caught. I understand now the drastic change of sense of differences.
Not sure if she ate some isopods gathered from the yard. Some clearly bother her, I’m not sure if it good timing to have a lot of them crawling all over the setup and bothering her face. She’s currently clinging beneath the pothos. It’s definitely keeping me on high alert. I have to go the pet shop and buy crickets for reptiles I have. I’ll see if she if her mood change to be more entice of food offerings.

From yesterday. Currently she hiding in the mass of the Pothos. Trying to ensure she stays hydrated.
Her terrarium has a space for additional plant. I want a weeping Ficus in the void area. But no hardware stores are carrying them. I would like to try some fern plants. But I can’t seem to have any thrive in a terrarium from past experiences.

I cannot tell if she ate. I can tell if she being picky eater. Maybe the crickets are too large. She a tad smaller than Wiseman. I can remember Wiseman will snatch the small size crickets. Or she is still in stress.

Looks like I have to resort to fruit flies, bean beetles to entice her.

I had to pick her up during the afternoon. She was upside down on the top of the cage. I feared couldn’t get down with drastic gap of getting back onto any plants or sticks.

Her in a position I never seen.

That’s her in a position that look like hunting. The angle I did does not show the true posture of pointing to the ground slanted like an arrow ready to snipe.

Found this site selling termites. I think anyone wanting a different food source for not just smaller chameleons, younger chameleon like babies-might be another alternative.

Although this is not available to anyone living in Arizona or Oregon.
How about termites as a food source for Brookesia? Carolina Biological supply has been around for a while.

I keep her in a 10 gallon size terrarium. But despite that I can’t find her a lot of times. It like she disappeared.

I actually do not want to keep her in that terrarium long term. I thought about buying another 30 gallon terrarium like Wiseman is in.

Eventually when I can finish my phases to my bedroom. I’ll rededicate a new enclosure. I saw the Zoo Med 120 Repti Habitat Pro. I’ll likely buy two two double stack and make a divider for them. So I can dedicate a small group of her kind. I really want to create some woodland floor and some arboreal style into her eventual new home.
