I thought I'd share a unique chameleon.

This is Oscar, my wifes Chameleon. We bought him at a sleezy pet store for three hundred dollars. He was as grumpy as any chameleon at first, but developed an unusual personality.

He's as resistant as most chameleons to being picked up, its just a hard wired behavior, but he relaxes the moment he's got a good grip on your hand. He'll occasionally even go to sleep if he doesn't try to climb your face.

He rarely if ever gapes.

He isn't stressed out by groups of people. I'm sure most people will think I'm full of it, but he actually seems to enjoy interacting with people.

An example, when he see's a small child, he'll often grab his perch with his tail and reach for them, even if they're several feet away. He's extra docile when children hold him and he often stretches out to make his chin more accessible.

Just tonight, he was sitting in his usual sleeping spot, sitting, curled up in the usual sleeping pose, but he was darting his eyes all over the place. I stopped to give him a neck rub, and then pet him. He started drifting off to sleep immediately, even gave me a little snort for my trouble.

Hey ya he's awsome looks like a red bodied blue barred ambilobe panther chameleon that's awesome u got him out of that place chams have personalities and if their in a bad home their gunna be grumpy sounds like ur seeing his true colors so to speak lol

Yep, a blue bar ambilobe, but he's more of an orange most days. Bit of a runt, half the size of most males. But he's all personality.

One of the more salty tales involving Oscar... Is his taste for a nice sour apple pucker. Well, sort of, not the drink.

I accidentally sprayed him peripherally with some sour apple candy spray. He seemed intrigued, as opposed to irritated, licking his lips, and prowling near the door of the cage.

I opened the door, and he opened his mouth, his eyes were locked on me. There wasn't any sugar in the spray, so I took a chance, and spritzed him in the mouth. He flinched, but he spent the next ten minutes with his eyes either shut, or looking speculatively, licking his chops.

I swear, after awhile he gaped like he was begging for more, but I didn't think it was a good idea to repeat it. Weird, though, right?
