I think UPS opened and inspected a box I sent out

I've never shipped out anything via Ups, so this may be a really dumb question, but does Ups make you put the weight of the package anywhere before printing the label? It seems to me there would be a pretty big difference in the weight of the package when it was sent out by you and the weight of the delivered package minus the heat pack. Plus they'd be charging you more for delivering a lighter package.

Heat packs don't weigh much... it's just a little packet of powder chemical that reacts with air and heats up. You are supposed to tell them how much the package weighs, if there is a large enough discrepency in the weight you told them and the weight they measure (as the package enters the system) then they change your bill. I don't think it would be very easy to say the package weighs less delivered than it did when it was picked up/dropped off. In other words... not much luck if you go down that avenue.

Best bet, contact them, say the package wasn't delivered complete.

My experience with receiving reptiles through UPS has been good so far. I have only had to receive two chameleons via UPS. Both times I had the animals shipped to the main distro in Ontario, CA near my work. Both times the lady in the office at the UPS service desk called me at 7am to remind me I had a live animal to pick up, and not to forget to come and get it. And, both times she was very mindful of the fact that it was a live animal, by keeping it aside from other packages. She even carried it out and placed it down gently. She even knew who I was when she saw my ID. "oooh you have the live animal, did you get my call this morning?" Both times I laughed and told her 'yes, but I was still asleep, but I work across the street, and don't start till 10am.' Very friendly lady.... Maybe I should write to UPS and remind them that they have a great employee in their distro.
