So one of my female veileds went on a hunger strike for about a month now. After 10 days of the hunger strike i took her to my vet and they said nothing was wrong with her. I would sometimes force feed her by putting a cricket by her mouth and she would lick it and then i put it in her mouth and she would bite, chew, and eat it. I have put her in the shower multiple times to make sure it wasnt dehydration. I put her outside a couple times to make sure its not UVB. Her fecal samples have been white urate and normal brownish looking feces. her colors are green, and i really dont think its stress, i have not changed her cage at all, and it have cloth on 3 sides of the cage. She is definately not gravid or receptive, but she digs randomly. Recently when i hold her she doesnt open her eyes, until i really press the issue, whether it being a little shaking or spraying her with some water.

Her cage is 18X18X36 i give her calcium every time i feed, plus d3 every 3 days. I have a misting system that goes for 2 minutes every 3 hours. I have UVA 75Watt heat bulb and 5.0UVB mercury buld. She has a ficus in her cage and she also has fake plants and a reptivine throughout her cage, and some fake plants hang from the top which she has been sitting on a particular leaf that is under the heat lamp.

Please if you have any idea let me know, i am really worred for her health. I have been looking for a vet specialist and the closest one i believe is 2 hours away. I dont want to take her to the same vet that i took her the first time because i dont think they know what they are doing and i definatly dont want to payy $100 for them to pry her mouth open with a Q-tip and weigh her.

OH SH*T HE OPENED HIS NEW VET?! I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO TAKE A YEAR?! I have talked to Dr. Greek before! Yay finally i can get some answers!

mine went on a 5 week hunger strike with no problems and very little weight loss.he was drinking fine and plenty active and the releif when he finally did start eating again was tremendous.good luck :D

HA HA HA HA! wow ok well guys, i let my girl sit out in the natural sun all day and put her in the shower for a good 10 minutes, and WOW i put 11 dusted crickets in her cage and I CANT FIND N E CRICKETS! i am going to further inspect her cage, but i think when i force fed her 6 dusted crickets 2 days ago it gave her enough energy to hunt and get food on her own!

But should i still bring her in for a check up?!

1. Did your vet perform a fecal?
2. Have you tried a different feeder? Sometimes they will get bored with crickets.

No i have not done a fecal sample, i noticed when she did deficate it was fairly small because she wasnt really eating and there wasnt any urate pretty much. I am thinking i will wait for a couple days to see how this turns out, because she is not showing any life threatening symptoms. If she doesnt show a huge amount of progress in the next 3 days shes going to visit Dr. Greek

She definately did not refuse the silkworms i offered her a couple weeks ago, may b ill try some supers and some hornworms again. I am sorry but i dont do roaches! lol so she'll have to miss up on that experience.

You said..."She is definately not gravid or receptive, but she digs randomly. Recently when i hold her she doesnt open her eyes, until i really press the issue"...not opening her eyes is not a good thing. Do you have a suitable place for her to dig in the cage even though you don't think she is gravid or receptive or is she not old enough yet?

She is about 6 months old, not showing any receptive colors, not fat at all, and she has been digging randomly for 2 months solid, idk shes weird.

Again...do you have a suitable place for her to dig in the cage even though you don't think she is gravid or receptive or is she not old enough yet?

Is she actually digging a hole or is she just scratching a trench in the soil or scratching at the soil trying to get out of the cage?

Shes got a 8'' by 12'' deep she is 6 months to 7 months, not fat at all. no receptive colors.

she doesnt have to be fat to be carrying eggs... What medium do you have in your laying bin? Also, please answer Kinyongas second question.

Dude im no cham expert but im pretty sure shaking her wont help much, its like thumping the tv set. :)

Lol i dont shake her like an abusive nanny! more of like if i old her on my right hand and a scratch my right arm with my left hand, the move ment makes her open her eyes

She has dug a coupld actual holes, but stopped about a month ago. Now she just scratches around and spreads the soil out.

I would be more than happy to take a look at her in person and then you can find out if she is gravid or not.
Give me a call and we can meet up.
