I think I have a PROBLEM! #3 on his way

Thanks Alex. I hope I can give him some much needed care. The next couple of days will be a BIG change for him. He should be super happy in his big cage with extra room to stretch. Anything you can get from his original owner would be a huge help! Please also be sure he gets his meds to me tomorrow!

Im Viktor, Alex was his original owner/the one who dropped off the meds this morning. I took him in and have been feeding/watering him the past 2 months because he didn't even after he brought him here. He told me he didn't bring his big cage because it broke, not because he didn't have enough room, which is weird because he made 2 separate drives just to bring stuff.

But yeah, im sure he will come around real nicely. He was bought from a real nice breeder in socal so he should have some good genetics(she was really attached to him when we picked him up so im sure she would be heartbroken to see how he is).

Can't wait to see him improve.

Viktor, it really shows what a good person you are, that you took care of this poor guy, and then made sure he got a great home. Thank you for being one of the good guys. :)

Sorry Viktor, I got the names mixed up. Thank you for caring for him while you could. He has a long road ahead of him, but his story will be like that of the ugly duckling. He is not much to look at right now (with his infection and wounds), but before I am done with him, he will be the most handsome guy around!:D

Unfortunately, I think the real challenge will be earning his trust. Not only has he not been cared for properly, but now I am afraid he sees me as his tormentor. He HATES when I spray his cage and hisses at me and the water. He bites at me and the syringe when I try to give hi his oral meds, and then I wrap him up in a towel and stick a needle in his leg.

I would hate me too if I was in his place. If only he knew it was all for his own good.:(

Yeah he wasn't too pleased with me either while extracting all that pus... Poor guy. But he doesn't know how good he has it now! Thanks Viktor for getting him the help and new home he needed. :)

I am trying to slowly soften him up. I know he will probably never really like me, but maybe I can at least make him feel comfortable with me. I gave him about a dozen large crickets today and he readily hunted them down. I also got an auto mister set up on his cage, which he is not too fond of.

As a treat, and to really try and get on his good side, I let him play outside of his cage on a 6 ft fake ficus. He really enjoyed climbing throughout the tree and seemed happy for the first time since I got him. It was cool to see the colors change from his darker angry colors, to light happy colors in a matter of moments. I think I will continue this everyday and see If he becomes even a little more freindly toward me.

Here are a couple of pics of him playing in the tree. Notice his colors compared to earlier pics.

Letting him free range was a great idea! He looks very happy exploring the fake ficus. :) He is really pretty, and that casque is huge!

I had to do the shot thing with a panther who injured his leg once. It was really hard to feel like you are "hurting" something so small. After it was over I just started over with hand feeding special treats and outside time and he came around. He never did like seeing a syringe again though...

Funny you should mention that his casque is HUGE. His casque is actually quite a bit smaller than my other Veilds casque (as ferretinmyshoes can attest).

Here is a pic to show the diference:

Thanks but more credit should be give to Lp, he's great for wanting to make him better and to give him a permanent home. I just did what I could for the time being.

It's alright, and no problem, I just wish I could've done more. He's in great hands now though!

It's ok, he's never liked being sprayed even when he was young and was actually taken care of properly and same with the hand thing. He's not a fan of hands being near him in his cage but once he's outside and climbing on you he's fine.

yeah i couldn't even look when that pus was coming out. And a HUGE thank you again for coming out and helping him out, that was really nice of you to do.

He looks a lot happier already, I love his happy colors. Unfortunately I rarely got to see them(only when he was sleeping and sometimes when he was eating)

Letting Igor free range has already made a HUGE impact on his attitude. I let him hang out in the tree for a couple of hours tonight and he loved every minute of it. His colors were the lightest and brightest I have seen so far. He also didn't puff up or hiss at all when i went to get him off the tree and put him in his cage.

He is still in his small screen cage because I have not had a chance to clean or move the big one. I did however add some more branches and fake leaves to it so hopefully he will feel more comfortable.

Then to end my day, he made me laugh. I went in to check on him and see him in his pajamas, and check out how he decided to sleep tonight.

I actually laughed out loud when I saw him sleeping hanging up side down. All of the sticks and plants, and he choses to hang from the roof.

hahahaha nice, I never saw him sleep like that. you can see some of his awesome colors in that sleeping pic.

Wow! Bean looks like he's wearing the pope's hat! :) That is a HUGE casque. They are both good looking guys. I'm glad free ranging is helping Igor feel more at home.
