I think I have a PROBLEM! #3 on his way

Hello, My name is Lyle and I am an addict.;)

I got my first chameleon, a 1.5 year old veiled named Bean, about 2.5-3 months ago.

Then about 2 weeks ago I got a 3 month old Ambilobe I named Remy.

Now I will be getting this guy tomorrow evening.

I am VERY excited to be adding him to the family.

Our very own ferritinmyshoes took a look at him today and says that overall he is fairly healthy. He has a severe sinus infection that will need treatment for some time, but he should heal well from that. He also had a couple of dried impacted sperm plugs that she removed, and she is hopefull that once the swelling of his hemepine(sp?) goes down he will make a full recovery!

He has a long road to recovery ahead, but I am excited to be a part of that recovery. I will, of course, post pictures once he is here, and keep everyone updated on his progress.

Group: Hi Lyle..

Lol! There's nothing wrong with a cham addiction!
Congrats on your new addition :p

Hope his recovery goes well.

I remember reading about him yesterday! I am so glad he found a home with someone who will care for him as he deserves!!!!:D

Group: Hi Lyle..

Lets talk about your addition. 3 chameleons in 3 months. Hhhhhmmmmm???? At that rate you'll be up to at least 12 by 2015. Soon you'll be sleeping on the couch because you've turned your master bedroom into a massive free range room.

Congrats again on the new addition. Good for you for showing some love and care to this new guy that needed the attention.

Congrats on the handsome new guy! You're so lucky to have Dayna as your vet! Keep us updated on his progress, and a pic spread when you bring him home would be great. :D

Thank You! I will definitely post pictures after he arrives. They are bringing him to me some time this evening, so you can expect pics before the day is over.

LMFAO :)

I have a guest room so I could sleep in there. After all, nothing but the best for my Chams!!

I think coming here to talk about a possible cham addiction is like going to an AA meeting in a bar... :p I am currently looking for a new house and my only requirement is a screen porch for a giant free range! :D

I would love a screen porch free range, but I don't think it would work well here in Colorado where screen porches DO NOT exist. Even in the middle of the summer it can get too cold outside at night for Chams.

I feel your pain! When I was looking for my place, I was WAYYYY into living reef tanks and every house I walked into was like a treasure hunt. I had to find that Perfect spot for a BIG tank. My condo did not have anywhere to put one so I cut a HUGE hole in the wall to the master closet (it was a walk in) and put a Large reef tank in the closet. It was AWESOME!!! I later got rid of the reef (if you think Chams are expensive....) and put a large bearded dragon in the wall instead.

I am doing the same looking for a house! It needs to have a big yard suitable for my turtles and tortoises that gets morning sun. And I'm looking for good spots for cages and I want a cut into the wall large cham enclosure! It's all about the critters. ;)

He is finally here. There is A LOT of work to be done with his enclosure as you will see from the pictures below. To start he only came with a 16x16x20 screen cage and he is 3 about 3 years old. In the enclosure, there are 2 fake plants, and 2 sticks for him to walk on. WAAAAYYYY to small for him and nowhere to hide. As far as his health goes, he looks pretty healthy, other than the eye issue and the minor prolapse.

I have a MUCH larger 36x18x48 enclosure that he will be going into for a while, but I need to clean it and move it into the other room, which I am using as a quarantine area until he is healthy. His temporary room is on the complete opposite side of the condo, as far from my other lizards as he can be. I will post more pictures as I am able to get him in his new cage, and he settles in.

In the mean time, I give you IGOR (named by his previous owner):

He is a good looking' guy! He'll look even better after he's been with you for a little bit. Poor thing, I can't believe they kept him in that itty bitty cage for over three years, with hardly any "furniture." :( I'm so glad he got to come live with you and have a happy, pampered life.:) Hope his eye and prolapse heal quickly.

He'll be back to 100% in no time at all with your help. I'm sure he knows he's finally in good hands.

With all the different members from around the world that participate here, its 5pm somewhere, always. So that means its OK, right? You know I really got lucky when I found my current home. I had some requirements: will the family room work w/ my AV system (so I took out walls), can I park my boat (room on the side), is there enough room for everyone (yup and even a game room), and then my fever for chameleons came back. LUCKILY, I have room for probably 4 or 5 nice sized outdoor enclosures along the west side of our back yard. Only probably I may have it what to do in the cooler months. I guess I'll figure that out when the time comes.

I was just talking to someone today about looking for a new place JUST to make more room for my chams and a few extra cages! I admit it... I too am an addict

HUGE thanks again for taking him in, I really appreciate it as my friend was not taking care of him at all(you should've seen him when he first came, skinny to the bone, super dehydrated, shed everywhere). He definitely looks to be in great hands now, im sure he will come around and be a real good guy. He's not a fan of being taken out of his cage, but once he's out he's a lot calmer. I'll be in touch sometime this week to help take care of some of the future med costs, just seeing how much i can get out of his original owner.

Thanks Alex. I hope I can give him some much needed care. The next couple of days will be a BIG change for him. He should be super happy in his big cage with extra room to stretch. Anything you can get from his original owner would be a huge help! Please also be sure he gets his meds to me tomorrow!

Kiwiage, at least I know I am not alone! Maybe we can start a support group ( though I am pretty sure we would only fuel each others addictions).
