I need some advice.

I started this new thread because i found out not too many people look at the breeding section and i could really use some advice. I am torn between taking her to the vet and just leaving her alone. I'm afraid if i make the wrong decision it could cost my female panther her life. Please read "HELP, Desperate, laying eggs for 10 days and still has some left" under the breeding section. I could really use the input.

To the best of my knowledge she bred. They were pretty close together and i think he had a smile and no she can't see anything i have a towel covering her enclosure.
 
If they truly bred, they would have finished it with a smoke. Check the bottom of his cage for cigarette butts and you'll know for sure.
 
Lol, umm upload a pic of her. Maybe she feels that she doesn't have the right spot to lay them. Cage info is needed for this also. How much laying room does she have (egg ben). Umm there is a few questions for ya.
 
Ok guys listen up. I put a small laying ben in her enclosure just because somebody menttioned it might be a good idea for all females. I originallly was taking her out and putting her into a big bucket for laying. Which she did for the first 4 day and a total of 12 eggs. But , then she got so dehydrated and weak she couldn't even move, which is when i started bringing her to the vets. Now she is a little stronger, between the injections and the bug juice (even the vet thinks that was gross, and he didn't even have to do the squishing).Many times i find her in the little ben trying to dig and then she just collapese it looks like from exhaustion. Remember she hasn't willingly eatien in over 2 weeks. After that, on the trip to the vets and stuff i have been using this little ben for her that is in her cage thinking she is too weak to go into the big bucket. But you know what, maybe that is it, she doesn't think it is good enough for her eggs. Now mind you she has layed eggs in this little bucket, but that wasa befor e the vets trip and right after. Blah, Blah, thanks guys, i am going to dig another hole in the big egg laying ben and set her in it for the night. Keep your fingers crossed. She does look better the last couple of days since i have increased the amount of bug juice, she does look like she has a little energy and doesn't look so dehydrated since the injection. Maybe that is what it is!!!!! Gotta go..................
 
If you look at "Superad"s website, it shows you how you can force feed the lizard. I would try that. Maybe that would help.
 
Ok...take her to the vet and get her x-rayed to see if there are eggs left. Then if there are eggs have your vet administer (forgot the name) drugs that induce laying. She will lay the eggs without even having to dig a hole. Or just skip the xrays if you are sure there are eggs left. I would not force feed her yet, way too much stress for a gravid female but if you want mist her with pedialyte to give her some calories and electrolytes.

Well if shes still gravid and hasn't eaten in a while besides the injections then wouldn't that be better than not doing it?
 
Force feeding is just a very questionable issue...I would definately give her pedialyte and have my vet induce laying. It sounds like she is very weak, liquids would be in my mind the best thing for her, there are many cases where force feeding has choked chameleons. But like I said...that issue is a entire different debate. After she lays the eggs...if she didn't eat within a few days I would attempt force feeding as a last resort. Not saying you are wrong Linkin...there is no wrong or right answer. But the vet should definately induce the laying of the eggs.

Ya I agree with you. I was just thinking maybe if the Chameleon hadn't eaten in a while, they should try it. Oh well I completely agree with you.
 
She has already been to the vets 4 times and the last time he administered a shot of oxycoxtin or something like that. When i called at 4 he said she is all set she laid the last 3 eggs. then when i picked her up he felt 3 more and said wht the..........she has more, and gave her another shot. The next day she laid one more but i can feel at least 3 more in there. That was Friday am i brought her and since then nothing. Although when she laid the last one she went to the top of her cage and just started drinking like crazy, so much so she actually vomited about 10 minutes later. I was sure she was all done, but then my husband felt her and said at least 3 more and i could also feel them. When i give her the bug juice i just lift up the side of her lip and using an eye dropper drop by drop stuff in. She will then lick her licks and usually swallows. I sware to god that is the only way she has made it throught he last 2 weeks. There have been so many times that she has been so dehydraed and weak i didn't think she would make it through the night, but she is strong willed and know she needs to get rid of the eggs and continuues to try to go into the little ben to do it. For a while she would lay them anywhere. The last one she even laid on me when i was dropping water on her. Yuck. She is in her bucket now and maybe that is what she needed.
 
How do you get to superad's website? I would like to check it out. Also it was Friday i took her to the vets's am and when i called at 4 he said she is all set she laid her last 3 eggs. After that reaction i was convinced she was done. but no, we felt at least 3 more. Someone else said that once they have 2 shots of that stuff and they don't lay then they usually die. I hope they are wrong......She does seem a little stronger and she knows she needs to lay the eggs to survvive. When i went to move her she was in a lttle potted plant in her cage so maybe you are right and the egg-laying ben just wasn't good enough now that she feels a ltttle better. I don't know anymore after 2 weeks of this i think i'm going crzy.ONe minute she looks like she is dying the next she is moving her arm in a digging motion, then 10 minutes later she is collapsed. I am trying the big bucket tonite.
 
Did you vet not x-ray her? What is her coloring like? Can you post a pic? It is great that she is still drinking....give her as much as you possibly can because those shots are going to be tough on her. See about getting an x-ray, to me it just sounds crazy that you had to go 4 times. Just keep misting her and keep the bug juice flowing. Good luck.

I found that a 1/2 organic potting soild 1/2 play sand mixture works great. I use a 12x12x12 pot filled almost all the way to the top and keep the mixture moist. If you see her start digging try to leave her alone for a few hours without her seeing you...I know it is hard especially with the condition your cham is in...but give her time because sometimes if they see you while they are digging they will quit and look for a new location.
 
I don't know what is going on, but this is the third time i am typin this in but it isn't going on the forum. so if you see this 3 times that is why. How do i go onto superad's website? i would like to check it out. One minute she looks like she won't make it throught the nite, the next she is in her egg-ben trying to dig, then 10 minutes later she collapses. She didn't seem to care where she laid the eggs, we were finding them evrywhere, but now that she feels a lttle bit better , maybe she does. I have put her in the big ben for the night and can only pray she will make it.I will give her until Weds and if she is still ok then i will bring her back into the vets. The only thing is i am not to confident he knows what he is doing you should have seen him rolling the eggs around. He didn't even know it took as long as 9 months for them to hatch. But he is all we have around here. That is why i need everyone's input so much. Thanks,

Her coloring is good. And yes 4 times. The first 3 times he gave her injections of calcium and fluids for dehydration thinking that would work, but obviously it didn't. In both buckets she is completely covered and she doesn't see me peeking on her. I won't take a picture tonite because i need to leave her alone, but if all is well tomorrow i will post one. I already started the hole and hopefully that will work.
