I need help

Someone dropped off this chameleon at my husband's job and his pet shop and he brought her home to me so I took her to a friend of ours who owns a reptile shop is telling me she is calcium deficiency so we've got her the calcium the only thing now is that she doesn't want to eat and I'm scared she might not survive due to her being weak what can I do to make her eat without trying to force feed Her because jaw is weak from what our friend has told us. I am upset because she is a beautiful chameleon and I own a Jackson chameleon of my own and I just inherited A veiled chameleon and I need to know what can I do to help her

Deff has MBD. not good. look at the way the joints look on his legs. not good at all.

She definitely has MBD but I'm worried that she is also gravid...and possibly eggbound.

Please give her an opaque container in her cage asap filled with washed playsand sand that is moist enough to dig a tunnel. I think I would even dig her a tunnel.

Correct the MBD she should have liquid calcium sandoz or gluconate until her blood calcium levels are back to normal and her bones strong again. She also needs proper husbandry....appropriate lighting, basking temperatures, dusted and we'll fed insects, etc.

Let me get this straight, you took her to a friend who owns a reptile shop and he said she had MBD so badly her jaw was weak? If that is true, her prognosis is extremely poor. Add that she looks like she is gravid.

I don't know what your commitment is to this animal, but I would venture a guess that she is suffering horribly. You just can't leave her in this state, and supplemental calcium is not going to fix her. She needs intensive vet care.

She really needs to be seen by a vet who can tell you if what the reptile store owner said was true or not. Then you will have to make a decision. I believe leaving her like this is cruel.

I'm sorry. You did a good thing by taking her in and now you are left cleaning up the mess with all the emotional toll it will entail. I think very wicked things about people who dump such seriously ill animals on kind-hearted people.

i did call my vet an he recommended me to south dade animal hospital which i made an appointment the will see her on Monday i am just worry she won't make it by then.

all my friend does is raise and breed veiled chameleon, jackson chameleons and panther chameleon and exotic animals can i put calcium in her water and mix it in

Don't put calcium in her water if your misting her or using a dripper. If you're using a dropper it might be Ok...but liquid calcium is absorbed faster/better.

Also...you should have your friend check out all the info I gave you because if she has chameleons with mbd her husbandry might be off.

Wow the poor thing. She looks really bad I hope she makes it to the vet. My prayers will be with you.
