I'm waiting on my promist system to come in the mail, in the mean time my cage is all screen and the base is wood. The bottom of my cage is plexiglass and all the water gathers there and stays wet for an hour or so along with the wood base. My plans are to remove the plexi glass and staple screen in and have a drain underneath the cage my worry is the wood getting moldy and so forth does any one have any this I can use to stain the wood and make it water proof or something that won't be harmful to my cham. I was thinking some bathroom caulk that's white and mold resistent. But I'm not sure at this point

Please help thanks

I haven't used anything of that sort around chameleons, yet. But when I am using paint or weatherproofing stuff around my turtles and tortoises then I use water based latex paints/primers. Just let them dry out and after that there should not be any issues.

I used a good wood sealer and let it dry completely, then washed it with slightly soapy water really well. I then used some regular silicone to seal around the base to keep water from leaking between the wood. I have alum screen on the bottom to let water pass through with a tote to catch the water. It has served me well and I am already making plans to improve my current design.
