i bought about a ten month old veiled chameleon about a week ago and for some reason for the past two days she has been very dark, staying in the top corner of the cage and she is eating less. she also will not let us hold her... the temp aways ranges around 85 degrees towards the top of the cage and the humidity never goes below 40%. i just dont know wat is wrong and i need some help! does anyone have any tips for me??? oh ya and she will not drink from her dripper... please help!

Are you aware females lay eggs regardless if a male is present or not? Here's a blog for you to read, your basking temp should be lower. The article below will explain how to care for a famale veiled properly.

Current Problem - she is dark and wont let us hold her

yes i agree, a female can lay eggs with out a male, and the tmp is too high, i think she might be dark in her cage and won't let you hold her because she is adapting, may cham ( female veiled chameleon ) did that as well, don't worry she will be fine. she should "finish adapting" pretty soon (mine about 1/2 weeks) if you hold her even if she doesn't want you to she might get used to you but if she hisses at you i would just let her be

thanks but how could i reduce my temp and set up a laying bucket i have no clue what one is...

For a laying bucket you can use an opaque container that is at least 12" by 12" deep x 8" filled almost full of moist washed playsand.

Use a lower wattage basking bulb or move it farther away from the top of the cage. Or, use a timer to turn the light off during the warmest part of the day (and just leave the UV light on).
