I joined the leopard gecko club

Just saying that your Leopard gecko may be a boy or it might be a girl, they are really difficult to sex until a certain age, which is about 6-7 months if I remember clearly. But its too early to tell with yours, I have 6 myself and I myself prefer the reptile carpet completely over sand. I would recommend it just because the chance of getting impacted is high, and yes some people have success with the calcium sand but honestly the calcium isn't really obsorbed and the sand is pointless. It is supposed to be safe to eat but it really isn't, it is a sales trick. I recommend getting the reptile carpet until he/she is about 5 months old and then what I did with all of my guys is buy some tile from lowes or home depot and break it into pieces and lay it over sand. The reason for having sand below the tile is for your feeders. You do not want them getting in the cracks and laying where your leo cannot get them. Other than that just make sure you have around 3 hides, a water dish and I like to put a capful of calcium in with them(my leos tend to lick it every so often, including your humid hide and a day and night bulb and you are set. I would show you pictures of my enclosures but I am not home at the moment. and the liquid may be parasites, I would not jump that far right off the bat but when my Leopard gecko was sick he was pooing out clear liquid and had a lack of appetite, but you just got him/her so he most likely is just adjusting to its new environment, Good luck! I love leopard geckos!
