I have a surprise!!!

The lady was going back to school and had no time for him. She was asking $100 but wasnt worried about the money and was just looking someone to give him a forever home=) kinda surprised I talked my husband into getting this guy!

Nice! :) At that age a beardies diet should be most veg though, bugs now and then are okay but should not consist of the majority of his diet.

So I just read that sand shouldnt be used. Is the pine shavings ok? I need to buy some more for hubbies snake as well so if it is then I'll just get a big bag. So fruits and veggies mostly? She gave me some bearded dragon bite thingys and he doesnt look interested in them o_O

Sand is probably better than pine shavings for impaction worries. I use sand for my Rankins (like a dwarf beardie). He probably swallows some when he eats, but it passes through easily. Otherwise repticarpet or kitchen towel is recommended, but I found his food hid too easily under towel and his nails got caught in the repticarpet.

You can always resort to using tile bottoms, they are easier to clean and if you can get them fit properly food won't crawl under it. I found with my former Bearded Dragons that Dubia Roaches were easier to feed with them and the decor in the tank, I just set them in a bowl or mixed them into the salad and they ate them up. You only need about 3-4 dubia to feed them rather than 6-8 crickets. :) He's a good looking little guy! I had rescued three dragons back in May and they all came with wood shavings, I had sand for a short period of time while I didn't have any paper towels, it seems to stain their skin and take away from their color, plus the impaction worry. I like the tile look, it's cleaner and easier to clean. I suppose you can also try using linoleum just cut it to fit and then just take it out, wipe it down with soapy warm water, dry and place back in the setup. It seemed like I was cleaning their cages every two days or so. I miss my dragons now that I see this. O:

Yea he's a big guy. Today he wasn't really happy about being picked up. Hasn't ate yet so maybe tomorrow will be a different day. Since he's in the same room as Ringo, Ringo has been so nice today. Hasn't puffed up or anything. Was even able to pet Ringo with no threat of being bite. But nether have ate

Can they see each other? Maybe it's stressful to them both for seeing each other? If not the Dragon might be stressed from being in a new environment and it's surroundings are the same.

They can see each other and Ringo usually roams the whole roam when I let him FR. Might have to move Peanut to our room or my sons room.

I just got my dubias starter colony last Wednesday so they have a little bit of growing to do. Also, how do a make a "worm salad" lol?

Thank you squeeks. I've ALWAYS have wanted a beardie. Ever since I was a little kid and my mom would always say no. Now that the chance of getting one for free, I couldnt pass it up! :)
