Hey guy I just got a Cresties boy could you all post some pics of your setups and moist hides? Also How you have there food and water setup?
Thanks guys:D

Cresties don't need moist hides, as they don't stay on the ground. They like plants, and like to hang out in the leaves, or the side of the enclosure. We put the food and water dishes on the bottom of the enclosure. Ours is planted, so on the soil. Hth.

I used to have them in either a screen cage or a tank, but always with ecoearth on the bottom if they were older (babies take some time to learn to hunt - in that case it was papertowel or bare plastic bottom) and lots of real plants. Pothos and bromeliads were favorites amonst them. I misted them several times a day and had a little dish of water at the bottom. And I set the insects free in the cage, so no food dish.

We have lots of live potted plants in there and paper towel on the bottem. He is getting Repashys crested gecko diet and crickets. I was just talking with a few people who breed them and they seid that they do better with a moist hide. that were they come from they hang out in small bushes at night and have a damp little cave they make at the bottem of a bush by the root system to sleep the day away from things that want to try and eat them.

We also feed Repashy's, so that goes in a bowl, and when they get crickets they're just thrown in. They don't last very long! I haven't heard anything about a moist hide, and the breeders here don't use them. Maybe pm Syn -- she's pretty knowledgeable about all things gecko.

I feed my guy strictly Crested Gecko Diet (Repashy) in a bowl. I re-new the food every other night and change out the water when I replace the food. I also mist twice a day.

Here's a pic of my setup. It's not completely done as we are going to add ledges and take out and add some plants.

Thank you for the pics. that is what I am trying to do:D Very nice setup

Awesome! I love Cresteds... I keep mine with lots of fake foliage, coconut hust fiber at the bottom, mist once or twice a day, no water dish (they drink from droppletts on the glass and plants), and the food dish goes at the bottom. I also feed Crested Gecko Diet and they love it. I do want to get one of those food dishes that hand on the glass with a magnet, I think they would rather not come down to the ground to eat. :)

I wanted to get The shelf that has 2 holes 1 for CGD and the other for water:). I will have to wait until the next reptile show in September there is a lady that makes custom really cool ones:)

Honestly, I feel the same way about water bowls for my geckos the same way I feel about them for my Chams. They will most likely poop in them if kept on the floor and such a pain to be cleaning all the time. Mine seem to do fine with one or two mistings a day, they lap up the water off the glass and the plants. :) I have enought water dishes to clean, lol!

I read that they like to bathe in the water dishes. I havent seen my gecko bathe in it but I have seen him drink out of the dish. Pangea sells the food/water dish ledge on their site. It's also a good crested gecko forum.

Texas panther man - Thanks! I got the purple flowers and yellow flowers from walmart, they are my geckos favorite! I also have a small dracena plant in there and once UPS freakin delivers my ledges I will be adding Bamboo to the cage.

here's a link to the safe plant list for geckos if you want to use real plants.

I have 10 Cresties. Two have just hatched out plus I also have 4 eggs. I only keep the breeding pair in a viv with soil, all the others have reptile carpet on the bottom except the babies which have kitchen roll. I never leave the crickets roaming in with the breeding pair as they can injest the soil whilst grabbing the crickets. Instead I remove the jumping legs and put the crickets in a hamster bowl. I will be putting soil in the bottom of the vivs when I move the other Cresties into bigger vivs. I also added some springtails.

Their main diet is CGD, I use either Repashy or Clarks. Some of them much prefer the Clarks. I put it in a plastic milk top lid and this gets changed every other day. I also provide them with fresh water in a little bowl and spray them twice daily.

I have quite a few in faunariums as they are young but the ones in vivs have vines, branches and plenty of plants hanging down the sides. They are also provided either with a half coconut cave or an Exo Terra hut. I don't use the Habba bark huts any more as they have a tendency to go mouldy on the bottom.
