I feel...used...

I got a kick out of this while googling something. I wrote a series of articles for "the Keeper", a newspaper put out by the International Fauna Society, back in 2005. And it seems they've made the rounds of several herp societies. Kinda cool. I think I wrote them a half dozen or so articles. I was advertizing in the paper, and writing the articles. When I stopped advertizing, they were no longer interested in my articles. Pissed me off.

Yeah, I know. It was fun. I wish I had more time to write them, as they were a bit rushed, but it was a lot of fun. I actually felt used when I realized that the original publisher wanted the ad money more than the articles - knowing that they're being published by herp societies around the country makes me feel so much better about taking the time out to write them! They might actually be READ!

The other ones went into detail about how to pick a chameleon - real detail about what a healthy animal looks like, what a sick animal looks like, how they act and react, etc. I think I have them on my computer at home somewhere.

Great article, very informative, I would really like to see the others as well. Thanks for the post Eric

That's a good article. You should put them in a blog here on the forums so we can refer the newbies. They always have allot of questions that are answered here.

I can't find them on my computer for some reason. I located my drafts on yahoo, as I sent them via email. I'll try to get them up soon. Another thing I want to do is find out how many of them made their way to herp society webpages. Might be good for my resume, methinks...

I think there are five articles. I also need to update and post my PDF veiled chameleon care sheet. It's got some stuff that may conflict with many caresheets, but it's not a "sheet" and goes into enough detail to explain confusion and conflicting husbandry techniques... like 20+ pages of detail... I will probably put it up here for some comments before I "republish" it. Last person to distribute it to a herp group was Bill Love and his wife - that was pretty cool.
