I built my own enclosure

I built my own Enclosure (24x14x36) for my 10 month old female ambilobe panther chameleon and dont wanna put her in it until it's suitable for her. I have some question like: Will the crickets eat the paint or sealer that I used? its made from wood and on a couple of the studs i had to use metal L brackets which wont allow the paint to stick so the paint is peeling from them, I figured that I could cover the brackets with some hot glue to keep her from accidentally ingesting a flake of paint; what do you peeps think? also how long should I actually wait to put her into the new enclosure? Does any one have any other advice or suggestions that would help me???

Oy!

Welcome to Chameleon Forums! Its great to have you here. :)

I would recommend you scrub/scrape clean anything chemical from the environment, especially if it could be ingested.

In this case I would assume it wouldnt be much of an issue, but I would caution you to not take any risks with the animals health.

Its going to depend on the paint, and if it was sealed.

Crickets will eat anything if they are hungry. Having live plants in the enclosure, and or a small amount of gutload in the enclosure should more than ensure they dont get desperate enough to eat paint. If they are eating paint, they are likely eating the animal as well. You dont want to leave them in the enclosure too long for this reason anyhow(they will eat on your chameleon!).

Good luck!

Passion Flower clipping for enclosure

Thanx incredibly... i'm also curious about a plant clipping from a passion flower vine that i took a three inch clipping of about two months ago. Now it's like ten or eleven inches. Do i still have to worry about parasites that may possibly harm my chameleon??? Any suggestions as to how and if i could possibly use it.. Thanx in advance
