I found a baby hummingbird in my front yard. I thought it would for sure fly away when I got near it but it didn't. When I got near it, it actually opened it's mouth like I was supposed to feed him. So I ran inside and mixed up a sugar water solution and got a dropper, he started drinking it like crazy. I really didn't want to leave him out there to be eaten by a cat. So I took him in my backyard (on a stick). But he decided he wanted to jump on my hand and stay there. Finally after 3 failed attempts to fly ( he flew up, then flapped all the way down), he finally flew away. He's still hanging out in my backyard, but it was quite the experience.
