Hygrometer placement

Hello. I have set up a new cage and am waiting on the arrival of my new Nosy Be Panther Cham. I installed the combo Zilla thermometer/hygrometer. I am unsure on where to place the hygrometer probe in the cage. It's a 16x16x30 (untill he gets older). If I have it to high toward the top, the Mercury Vapor bulb and CFL bulbs make it read low (about 30-40% RH on average). If I put it down around the level of my ficus it gets saturated by my spraying and of course reads very high. I have not installed an Aquazamp system but plan on doing so after my Cham arrives. What is the optimal placement of my hygrometer probe?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome! Btw! :)

Have you kept chams before? I would recommend filling ou tthe how to ask for help form located in the health clinic, so we can help you make sure everything is tiptop for your new kid:)

Thank you for the advice and the welcome. My new guy will be named Ego. I have kept reptiles before just not Chams. Know they are much different but this is why I have had my cage set up and have been lurking the forum, comparing care sheets etc. for weeks. Buying him from Bruce at Chameleons Paradise. He's been a ton of help and I feel pretty comfortable with the task.

Thanks again and I'll check out the form in the health clinic.

I dont even put hygrometers in any of my guyz cages, but I do have 3 or 4 of them mounted on the walls of the room they are in.
I keep at least 3 humidifiers going 24/7 except now where the room heat needs to be on for cold weather. Then I add another one, so it's never less then 50% (and usually higher) all year round.

I do keep digital thermometers in all the cages though, with the prob anchored to their favorite basking spot.

I think keeping the temp accurate is more important since fluctuations can cause health problems very quickly.

Ok, cool thank you. Was looking at cool mist humidifiers today. I live in Houston Texas and humidity is not usually a problem but with all the indoor temperature control we do here from A/C to Heat (sometimes in the same day) indoor humidity can be low. Thank you again
