Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - Veiled, male, about 2 months old. less than a week
  • Handling - every day i take him out of his cage and onto a tree he doesn't like it but really enjoys the tree only takes about ten seconds to put him on the tree
  • Feeding - as of right now only crickets? about 10 ? every day at about 7 a.m.?To gut-load i use oranges and carrots?
  • Supplements - I use Fluker's calcium without d3 (kind of worried about this it was only 98 cents on amazon and curious if it has phosphorus will change if bad) Reptivite without d3, calcium every day multi vit once a week?
  • Watering - Misting?I mist 3-4 times a day by hand for about 5 minutes each time (great forearm pump lol)? Only seen him drink once ?
  • Fecal Description - His droppings are relatively big being mostly solid with a little slime on the outside it looks like the white part is very white indicates he is drinking when i am not looking. Yoda has never been fecal tested ?
  • History -Bought from Fl Chams to my untrained eyes appeared to be very healthy

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - 16x16x36 mesh baby cage
  • Lighting - none he runs on sunshine
  • Temperature - Florida weather with tons of shade and basking opportunity
  • Humidity - I have no way of measuring humidity but Florida is usually pretty humid when it feels dry outside i spray him an extra time.
  • Plants - I use money trees
  • Placement - Cage is located on my back patio it is usually a foot off the ground
  • Location - Florida ?

Current Problem - was advised to do a husbandry check also really don't feel confident in fluker's calcium

Hey ATyrone! I’m new to the Cham thing myself but I’ll share some info with ya. There’s tons of it on this forum. Also if you go to youtube and search Neptune the Chameleon you’ll get all the info on raising a Cham. Believe it or not there is actually a Chameleon Academy. Lol. Bible. You can check it out here: https://chameleonacademy.com/

Chams have lots of very specific needs that if they aren’t met will be very detrimental to your chams health. Some can also be life threatening.

I really hope you’ll commit to doing the research. ?

I apologize, I couldn’t figure out how to share the videos. I totally would’ve and saved you the time.

After you learn as much as you can from the forums, the internet and youtube please ask any questions you come up with. I’ll def do my best to help you.

Cheers!

Thanks for the shoutout @LulaJune :) Here is the YouTube channel she is talking about: https://www.youtube.com/c/NeptunetheChameleon?sub_confirmation=1

Thanks for answering the questions!

I have a few suggestions to help improve your cham's life.

1. Consider adding in more variety to the gutload. Oranges and carrots are only okay. Things like squash, leafy greens, and mango would be much better.

2. I use RepCal supplements and have had no issues. I'm not super familiar with supplement schedules for chams that are kept outdoors so I'll let someone else weigh in on that.

3. That's a lot of misting. I'd back off to 2x/day for 2-4 minutes. It's not uncommon to not see a chameleon drink. They are shy drinkers. You can tell if they are hydrated from their urate which it sounds like are nice and white.

4. Be sure to upgrade him sooner rather than later to at least a 24x24x48" enclosure.

5. I'd invest in a hygrometer to measure the humidity levels especially with all that misting.

Can you post pics of your cham and set up?
