Humidity

hey all, I was wondering where is the best place in the cage to put a humidity gauge? Also what is the ultimate humidity day and night for a Panther?

IMHO, I think the best location for a hygrometer is somewhere centrally within the enclosure. To close to the bottom will give you a higher reading while being to close to the top will give you a lower reading due to being to close to the basking bulb. If you were to look at the care sheets offered here on the Forums, it would state that Panther's need a humidity level of 50-70%. I personally like to keep mine on the higher end of that number.

Thanks!

So I got a digital small round gauge (all things living brand) and put it in about the middle of the cage on one of the screen walls. I sprayed it down an hour or 2 ago and now it's only reading around 25%. When I sprayed it down, it went up a bit but the highest I've able to get it was around 35-37%. I know it has a +/- 5% accuracy, but does that sound right. Do I need a better gauge? Or does it drop that low during the day with all the lights on?

I also bought a dwarf umbrella tree and have it in the cage as well, which I thought would help increase the humidity....
