Here is a piece of equipment I own that has proved more valuable to my lizards than any single piece of equipment i've ever owned.
It's a Humidity/temperature Logger..
Like me when I started and probably most of us out there we have little gauges or meters we check periodically to see how hot our terrarium is and what the humidity is.. This is fine but it only gives us a sample of the overall daily conditions in our tank.
Over a year ago I decided I wanted to track my tank's parameters. I mean really track everything.. Minute by minute over many days.. I wanted the whole picture. It would have been impossible to do manually as I do not have that kind of time.. But I did find one singular product that fit the bill perfectly..
It is an ExTech RH520A... It's a data logging humidity/temperature recorder that also has a large display.

It works incredibly well.. I am not associated with the company, but I must suggest this piece of equipment.
You can set the scale on the screens chart however you want.. I think mine is set for 90% as the high and 60% as the low. You can also set alarms to alarm you if the temp/humidity is to high or low. The sampling rate can also be set. It can sample the tank every hour or even ten times a minute. Whatever you want. The probe can be detatched and put in the tank. The probe can also be replaced if it goes bad.
This makes getting everything in your tank dialed in perfectly.. You can physically watch what happens to your tanks humidity when you spray the tank. You can see how different lights affect humidity, different substrates.. Anything that happens in the tank is easy to watch and monitor.. I can tell you how helpfull this is..
This is data I collected over the period of a month.. In this chart is the average of 42,199 data points.. The data was downloaded to my computer and compiled into this chart. So this is pretty much exactly how my terrarium behaves. You can see the three times a day the rain system goes off and what happens to the humidity and temperature..
They are rather expensive new, but you can find them on e-bay for $100 sometimes.. I think mine was a steal at $54 on e-bay.. Been using it well over a year and it's working just fine..
Hope this helps.
