Hey KC. Have not heard from you in a while. I keep my humidifier for my montanes (Deremensis) on all day and off at night and it seems to work out well. I plug it in with the light timer so it is automated with the lights. Hope this helps.
hey Brian how are you.. didnt think it would be you replying to my ? lol funny i was going to text u the other day and ask if u are breeding any new critters. i have hundreds of dubias now. anyways thanks for the reply so fast.
I have quad chameleons that require higher humidities, therefore I have my Reptifogger dialed up high during the day 70-100%, and dialed halfway during the night, at least a consistent 60-80% humidity level.
ok so has anyone ever heard anything bad about ultrasonic humidifiers? i have heard of some thing called white dust that builds up and is not good. anyone ever hear anything about this..
I can reply to this one too! I have an ultrasonic humidifier on the Deremensis cage. It works great. Puts out cool looking fog too. The white dust i dont know about. Is that referring to calcium build up? cause I do have some of that but not too bad. Considering I use tap that has sat long enough to expell most or all of the chlorine, I dont have too much issue. I change the drip heads out every 2 years if they get completely clogged but mostly just scrub them off every 6 months and their still good to go.
On critters, I have 21 baby panthers at 3 weeks old and another 33 hatching out now. First one out of the egg today on the 2nd clutch. If you mean bugs, I have 25 or so hornworms pupated so I wil be up to my eyeballs in hornworms in about a month. I will let you know when so you can get some. You should get one of these ambiloble babies!! (thats the hard sell )
The white dust is mineral deposits in the humidifier. You can only used distilled water in a reptifogger or it will die in about 3 months. I only use distilled in mine and it's still going strong for 2 years now. Only use distilled water with ultrasonic foggers. I feel like lots of humidity at night when there isn't much heat could cause respiratory infections.
its just something on the older models i think.. something about the ultrasonic plate producing other chemicals in the water. not to sure just seeing if anyone else heard of this, lol i do to much researching. not good sometimes, someone always has something negative to say. well Brian my GF still to this day wants to come check out your sweet setup and i told her about the babies.. she is going to want one in about 2 weeks for sure. SO hold me a good one.
