Humidity Issue

Hello. I have a 4-5 month old panther chameleon that I just can't seem to get the humidity up for. I mist him 3x's day for about 20-30 sec intervals, I have a lil' dripper, I have a Tropic Aire Humidity system (doesn't seem like it is working for anything), and a live plant (umbrella). He is in a 36 inch screened cage. Still I can't seem to get it above 35%. I was thinking of getting some moss as substrate, but I have heard horror stories about that (impaction). Should I cover the cage with something? Wrap it in some kinda plastic (saran wrap)? Thinking of getting a habba mister as well. Any recommendations would be awesome!

If you get a mister go for the mist king. Habba is crap. What are you measuring humidity with? Analog type things are crap. Go for digital. Also try misting for 1-5 minutes at a time. If it still doesn't work and you're measuring with a digital hydrometer then cover two-three sides of the cage with a plain non bright colored shower curtain.

The habba is not adequate for a single chameleon setup? Why is that? The mist king is sweet, but it is 2-3 times as much. I have a digital hygrometer/thermometer setup. Thanks for the idea about the shower curtain. Probably better than saran wrap. I will try that if I can't seem to get the humidity up by increasing length of time per misting.

What hygrometer are you using to measure your humidity? Where is it placed in your cage? How many live plants do you have? What do you have at the bottom of your cage? How big is your cage?

I am using the Zilla therm/hygo combo (http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog...a-digital-thermometer--hygrometer-with-probe/) It is positioned in the middle of the umbrella plant. I have one umbrella that covers most of his 18x18x36 cage. I have no substrate in my cage as I was told this is best. I have potting soil in the pot for the plant covered by large pieces of gravel to keep him from munching on it (though I have caught him trying to eat the gravel even though he can't get his mouth all the way around them). Maybe it would be possible to get a different sprayer head for the Habba so that it doesn't just spit at them.

....that I just can't seem to get the humidity up for. I mist him 3x's day for about 20-30 sec intervals

Try misting for a more appropriate length of time, such as 5-10 minutes at a time, 3 times a day. Run the dripper constantly. Dont use an all screen cage. Increase the humidity in the room (with a room humidifier). Use live plants....

lots of ways to improve your humidity
