Humidity in this desert?! I think not.

Feel free to point me in the right direction if I have just missed it, but I can't seem to find mention of any specific humidity levels for veiled chams.

JannB (and I love her blogpost) mentions to keep humidity up... I live in the desert so keeping humidity "up" is a very broad term for me. Naturally, we have less than 20% humidity on the most humid days.

My baby definitely shows her grays when humidity gets under 40, but is it necessary to push humidity above 75%? & is exposing her to outside weather conditions out of the question? Considering the dry, dry air?

Before i got a mist king i had some eye problems with my male veiled due to low humidity.I keep my humidty at 75%-90% during the day and let the cages dry out at night.it drops to about 60% just before the first morning mist. Running a cool air humidifer during the day is a good idea if you dont have a misting system

I'm using a Zoo Med Repti Fogger now, and hand misting about every other-other hour.
The humidity stays around 75% during the day, but the water supply runs out very quickly with that Fogger. I have been running the Fogger overnight but it runs out before I can wake-up, and I usually find the humidity just under 50% in the morning.

I would love to set-up a small mister that could go off every few hours, but I just don't have the dough for it this summer.

P.s. I also have an old-school bedside style humidifier. Do you think she would benefit from running dual humidifiers (one pumped into cage, one just in room)

Why not control the Repti Fogger with a multiple setting timer? Get the timer, set up some fog cycles, plug the fogger in to it turned ON. You could set it so it runs a while, shuts off, runs again, and work the schedule out so it doesn't go dry. That's what I do with my ultrasonic humidifiers.

I... honestly don't know why I didn't think of that... I have my lights on a timer, why not throw the Fogger on one, too!
Even running it just every other 30 mins wouldnt affect the humidity, but make the water last twice as long!

Its a good idea to let your cage dry out at night .It prevents hamful molds ans mildews
