Humidifier

Someone said in my post about Grabby that you could attach a hose to a Vick's humidifier. The humidifier is less than $15 at Walmart, and my new cham Tweety needs some humidity in her enclosure. It's stays below 50. Anyway, I was wondering if someone could tell me how to attach the hose so I can put is specifically in her enclosure or direct me to the right post. Thanks!

my n51 was $40
i think its not the same model
with the n51 you 2" pvc fits into the exhaust

It can be very simple....

Buy the Vick's V5100N and it'll accept a 2" PVC pipe. These run about $50 at target maybe on sale at the moment since the economy is so slow.

This is the one i use rather.

OK I took some pics with my iPhone a while back for Cameron... here they are.

With 'venteri' in place. You can see the 'mist' is projected and has some velocity.

Here is without the 'venteri', notice how the mist falls.

Here is the "venteri' device. It is a 2" to 1.5" thread adaptor.

You can buy these bits at Home Depot or Lowes for like a couple of bucks each.

isn't that a vaporizer where you put vicks menthol medicine combined with warm steam?
I don't think that is ideal for your chameleon, as the warm steam can also mess with the enclosure temperature (on top of what menthol can do to your cham).

Get an ultrasonic humidifier. Summoner gave you one of the suggested brand.

good point... it needs to be a cool mist type... ultrasonic is cool mist...

I just got the old humidifier from my Parents attic. This thing is old old old. Must have been the first ever invented but it's an ultrasonic and I'm sure it would do the trick. I'll take pictures and post when I'm done.

Thanks for the article. I don't think that method will work for the one I'm getting. It looks really complicated too!

Wow. Unless you don't know how to use a hack saw and a tape measurer, I don't see how this could be too hard? Did you even read it or just look at the pictures?

BTW, unless you didn't make one, I must have missed the post about your newest addition Tweedy. What kind? I wish you the best of luck.

I just remembered, if you go into the Home Depot you can get one of the employes to cut the pipe for you. So if you could get the measurements and possibly print out a picture of the planed setup, they would probably do the rest for you. The PVC is pretty cheap.

It was moved to general photography, although I'm not sure why. Anywho, she's a veiled and she's got some awesome colors!

I'm not sure why you are thinking you need a humidifier.
Do some more reading and research, buy some more plants (real ones, not little bonsai ficus) and keep up the regular misting, being sure to allow the enclosure to completely dry out between sessions.

She's got 3 plants and they are all real.
