I would add some more ''hidding spots'' (ie. plants). But, so far so good :).

If I were you, I would go find some taller plants. It is going to take a very long time for that plant to fully cover the cage. I would also setup some type of drainage system and I would add some fake vines like these http://www.pets-warehouse.com/pic-s/SRCRV1.jpg and ziptie them to the sides of the cage. They really offer loads more cover for your chameleon.

ya may want to make some kind of cover for the outlet behind also prolly get wet during misting

I was thinking the same thing. To properly care for your new cham your gonna have a lot of water going through that cage. Maybe pin a towel up on the wall to cover the receptacles.

I would suggest taking the small tiny plant out of the enclosure and get a hibiscus/ ficus about the size of that 12X24X12.
I am guessing you are getting a baby from chameleonsonly since the setup is very similar to theirs.

Here is an idea of what I, imho, would call a sufficient coverage for that cage:

PS: is that really a ficus benjamina? I am a bit skeptical of that plant.
Hope that helps.

I saw someone had a pot plant suspended higher up so there was coverage towards the top of the cage, dripping into another plant below it. Seemed like an effective use of space and lets you use smaller plants. Just a suggestion :)

i thought it was a ficus benjamina when i bought it but i found out it was a ficus pumila the next day. so i am going to try to find a hibiscus

Hibiscus plants are easy to find. I bought one of mine at my local grocery store, and my other at Costco.

There are slightly hard to keep up though. My chams eat them like crazy, and then the plant suffers quickly from over watering. I have to rotate mine out every couple of weeks because they start to drop.

Anyway, when you get your plant, give it a good shower and replace the soil with organic soil (or some cactus stuff someone was mentioning in another post. You might want to go hunting for that thread.)

Those hibiscus I have in the pic I posted were transferred to his adult cage now and for a year, I have never rotate the plant and still blooming every spring. It is harder to keep than ficus and dwarf umbrella, but it is well worth it. On top of that, the flower and the leaves can be an additional supplement for your chameleon (if he turn up to be a plant eater) as they contain vit C.

Here are tips to care for Hibiscus:

1. Get a plant pot with drainage holes

2. Fill the pot with rocks.

3. Fill with organic soil (No chemical. No pesticides. No fertilizer -otherwise you will risk poisoning your chameleon).

4. Plant your hibiscus.

5. get a couple of earthworms and dump them in the pot (highly recommended.. but not necessary),

6. Get a plant stand to raise the pot off the floor in your chameleon cage. This will prevent the root from drowning (due to heavy misting and/or dripper).

7. Get a plant light and set it up on top of your chameleon cage.
