How Will I Know?

My veiled eggs are hitting 6 months old this week, and I am getting excited and horribly nervous all at the same time! My questions are:

- How will I tell when they are about to hatch?
- How will I tell if the egg is hatching, or if the baby inside died? (I had several eggs about a month ago just randomly ooze yellow goo, and die.)

Thank you for any and all input, this is my first clutch ever, and from my beloved Cami as well. It is very dear to my heart, and I can not wait to (hopefully) get some results!

My veiled eggs took 8 months in the closet with an average temp of about 76. They started to sweat and then got a split on one end right before hatching. I hope this helps.

Just make sure you don't accidentally add too much water to them if you are adding water. This will drown them and you'll have dead baby chams which is the WORST. If you've had several ooze & die already, chances are the rest of the clutch will do the same (has been my experience). Could be that it is a weak clutch, or has been over-watered or incubated at too high a temperature. But don't stress, let them do their thing.

It seems to me that when I let them kinda dry out and add water when its absolutely necessary, they do much better. Keeping them too moist IMO is worse than letting them dry a little.

Be patient! It could be another 2-4 more months lol!

Thank you both! I hope the others do not ooze out and die, especially when they started that habit at 5 months along :/ What causes a weak clutch? And I would spray water on the top of the tupperware about once every 9 days when they were first laid (I shook the lid off until there were just tiny beads on it). Now I spray the lid about once every 5ish days once it is completely dry in the tupperware. Does this sound wrong? :( I have just read SO many different methods to how people breed, it is hard to pin down which way is right! One has some tiny beads on it right now, and when candled, it is solid black inside except for an orange glow at one end of the egg. So that is what scares me, is it dead or dying? Yikes!

The wait is killing me!
