Take a cloth, hold her gently and wipe away the dirt carefully

I would agree, if she has laid eggs and has had a couple hours or so to relax I would just hold her head still, and wipe he gently. There are several ways to hold a chameleons head, for both you and her.

Unless the dirt is in her eyes or caked over her nostrils, I wouldn't worry.

It's just dirt.

You could mist her with water, but do it from a distance so the water spray is not too strong. She should just close her eyes. It will not hurt her.
