How to tell male from females?

Hello everyone :). I went to visit Petsmart today and I got to check out two little Veiled Chameleons :D. Unfortunately I asked the guy that worked with them and he said that they were too young to tell them apart from each other. I REALLY want a male because of their beautiful color variation so I want to be a 100% i get a male when choosing from these chameleons. They were maybe about 4 inch long(not sure just guessing) I remember hearing something about a bump on their hind legs but I forgot to look for that. So can anyone maybe answer my question and post a pic of what it may look like on a young VEILED chameleon. Thanks :)

You might have to take a magnifying glass with you to see it... (I did)... but the male will have a spur on the back foot.

I'm sure that someone with experience will explain it to you better :)

It is easy to tell, no worries! Veileds are one of the only cham species that can be told apart at birth. Look at their little back feet. Is there a bump or "spur" there? It will look like a little wart on the crease of their feet. Females lack this bump... They have smooth, pretty feet :) Just google "tarsal spur". You will see how obvious it is! Good luck, hope you find your male!

Thank you so much :)

For everyone saying you can sex veileds from birth - have you seen how tiny their feet are? Let alone a tiny bump on that tiny foot? :)

I have 58 one to three day old babies ... my eyes are not good enough to see any bumps!!!

Maybe it's because I have contacts that make it so that I do not have a problem... :p If you have issues seeing their tiny feet when you go back, bring a little magnifying glass with you!
