How to prepare vermiculite?

I really don't know where this thread belongs but when you have eggs how do you prepare the vermiculite? I know
Most people on here use it. I will have eggs soon. Clea is gaining weight and getting bigger.

Moisten the vermiculite and squeeze out all of the moisture until there are maybe one or two drops coming out. You want it wet but not too wet.. and at the same time not dry.

Does your house stay warm enough? My house gets cold at night! :) I'm wondering if it's just because it's big, or if my mom makes it that way...

Is Florida that warm?!?! Woah. My house drops into the really low 60's in the winter...

i cant find it anywhere and a lot of people suggested to use vermiculite and they had great success with it so i think i will stick with the vermiculite. I was thinking of getting hatch rite but its to late

thought you said she didnt even have her colors yet.....you dont need a big bin for eggs, you should really seperate them, also I dont think you need holes.

Danny i have been talking to a lot of people about her colors and they told me that not all females show colors. Each one is different. Also the bin is to hold the eggs. it depends on how many she lays.

I use the sandwich containers from walmart for eggs, you don't need anything bigger then that. Petsmart supposedly carries hatch rite, I'm getting with the GM of a local store to see if they can stock it or special order it for me. Either should work, I just find it easier. People pay for convience lol.

For a Veiled that often lays 50+ eggs, that is a heck of a lot of sandwich containers. I use the plastic shoe boxes with about 3 inches of vermiculite.

You need the holes to allow air to slightly circulate. Also, it can get too damp in the plastic shoe box without that little bit of air circulation. Keep up the good work Stephan.
