How to make homemade safe perches for my cham?

I want to make a couple perches from branches off the trees around my house. Problem is I don't know what kind of trees they are can I clean them off and let them dry out for a week or two before use? I know they're not pine, cedar, or any aromatic wood.

Your right.Try to stay away from sap trees like pine, Cedar, etc. Other than that any branches would work as long as you sanitize (Bake) them. Bake them in the oven, or wipe them down with white vinegar and rinse with water then bake in oven. Do not soak in vinegar. Just wipe them off. Use a tree with thin bark so when it dries it won't shed off. I use Post oak branches.
