I have been having problems getting out these little buggers. I either get a ton on the counter/floor and only a few in a cup to feed off, or nothing at all. Any one have a technique to getting these buggers out of the cup/culture?!

Just put them in the fridge for 20-30 seconds and it will slow them down and make it easier to tap them out. Don't leave them in too long though or they will die:eek:

Open the cup and tilt the cup to the side and tap the side of the cup spin it around and tap it again continue to do so. Put the lid on and then tap the container to get all the guys who are hanging on the outside of the cup.

I hope I explained it correctly. Did you understand that?

yep makes sense, Ill have to try that too, someone also recommended making a tube to attatch so they crawl through the tube into the viv.

I knock the cultures on the table to knock the flys on the bottom. As they crawl up on the rim I give them a light blow into the cage. When they start to swarm the top, pound the container on the table again and repeat.

another thing you can do, is drill a 1/4" in the plastic part of the lid , stick a bamboo skewer in it, and they will walk up the skewer a few at a time , when you want to stop the flow just pull the stick, and use a piece of tape, then you can just leave the culture in the tank, where its nice and warm

you can also make a large paper funnel , if you fridge them first (for no more than 5 min , any longer and they will die). they will sprinkle like pepper
