How to choose young chameleons

I'm not a breeder or anything, I was just wondering if there are any ways that one might pick the best specimen from a batch of young chameleons. What signs would one look for to pick one that would mature into a colorful, prime example of the species? I am aiming to get a panther chameleon, and if i get the opportunity to pick from a litter what would I want to look for if I want a colorful male? :)

In watching the young chams behavior, look for the following:

Clear eyes, no weeping, no closing of one eye more than the other.

Grip on your fingers that is solid compared to mushy.

Good focus before striking a prey insect, and success in hitting the target.

Mouth has no dark spots or open sores, or stringy gooey slime.

Body has no burn marks, or black spots.

Buy me one for my advice....;)

Beyond behavior, ensure the breeder has had the appropriate lighting, watering, and supplement schedule.

Also, Daddy cham is going to typically be close to what the males turn out to be.

i would also look for size, the stronger healthier cham will be more successful hunting. vibrant color.
i asked the folks at az reptile center to pick one for me and since i was there in person had them explain what they look for, i was real lucky as they are a great reptile store.

stay away from the "runt" might work with dogs but not chams

Ignore that comment
Runts are not the one to pick

They are oftentimes less healthy, and not as big, and just dont thrive as well.

You want a healthy animal.

For that, you want an accomplished breeder, with a health guarantee.

Healthy animal.
