How to check temperatures

Hey so I've been reading a lot about respiratory infections and I was just wondering how I'm supposed to check the temperatures? I have the thingy you stick on the cage but that's only at the top.

You can use a digital gauge. I have 3 in my cage so I can see basking, middle of the cage and floor.

It's also a good investment to spend $20 on an infrared temp gun
