Beman, how long have you been in the chameleon keeping life? You always got the best info I swear lol I appreciate you so much.He is at least a year old based on how thick he is. Make sure he is on an every other day feeding of no more than 3-5 feeders. Need to watch his weight. No way to know for sure on age. Could be a year could be 3 or could be 5.
Being in the back of the cage dark may be a response to the cage set up and or equipment being used. Can you post a pic of the entire cage including the lighting on top?

Ok I am going to just ask this question. I have seen people decide to breed here and get in over their head. Why are you wanting to breed? You do know this is an extremely expensive endeavor to set up tons of baby cages and you can end up stuck with a lot of babies right? I know you already bred a female. I am not sure how many you have now. I know you have asked questions in the forum on gender of babies etc. I would just hate to see you get in over your head. There is more than just breeding them and bad things can happen when they are not ready to be paired. I mean very serious injuries, just because a female is smaller than a male does not mean they can not cause a lot of damage to a male when they are not receptive and they are paired. Just my two cents... Let him acclimate. Something is going on if he is sitting dark all the time.I will def take pictures of his cage. The ones we have sold we still follow up with customers. I support my fiances reptile business. We dnt force them to breed if they don’t want to. Maybe next year they might and if they don’t breed then it is okay. We have allOk I am going to just ask this question. I have seen people decide to breed here and get in over their head. Yeah I did my research on them beautiful chams. Alot of names have changed over the years. The female looks like a cap Est she is very different frm my female ambilobeBack in the 90’s we used to call that type an east coast red! Funny how the names changed over the years!
Honestly you wont know for sure if she is truly a Cap Est until you have the first clutch hatch and hold back a few males to see how their colors develop. They call this proving out the female. If the male offspring look to be 100% as they mature then you have a proven female of that locale. If they do not show cap est coloring then the female is not actually that locale.Yeah I did my research on them beautiful chams. Alot of names have changed over the years.
