At what point/age do you start feeding a chameleon every second day instead of everyday?

I think it is really up to you and I bet there are members on here that feed everyday but do not confess to it so they don't get jumped on!!. Some people cut back earlier, but I usually go around 12 months or so and start cutting back. Even on the every other day, I will throw a treat at them here and there. We assume in the wild that they don't catch food everyday and eat when food is available, but who knows what is consumed in the wild. I never have owned a female, so some of the members with females may comment on cutting back earlier also to prevent egg production.l

So it's basically bad practice to always feed everyday? Just leads to over eatting I assume?

I would have thought this would have been one of those topics that lots believe they should be fed everyday and lots believe they shouldn't. When I looked at care sheets I saw ones in favour of both so I thought posting this I might have been jumped on for saying they shouldn't be fed everyday.

Cham's don't eat everyday in the wild. Since they have to actually find their food, they can go days without eating, so in captivity it is not a good idea to feed them daily.

That being said, i have never heard of an over weight cham. They tend to eat as much as they need, then they leave the rest. Feeding them every other day is fine once they are about a year old.

I actually only feed my Jackson's 3 times week. He simply refuses eat when offered food everyday.

Not saying I don't agree with your point. I just think just because it's one way in the wild, doesn't mean it's for the better.

trevor basically gave me the feeding program he is on. he is about 12 months now and started to really slow up before christmas. mainly because of the winter but also because he just doesn't want too eat that much. he will much down on 1 adult locust every 3 days. he won't eat anything else other than adult locust and marios. i have tried silks, crix, Dubai's, another roach (can't remember which)

if i put a 4th or 5th locust in he won't touch it it will still be in there for a few days unless i remove it.
